Quote-Only KYC Vendors
Onfido (Entrust), Persona, Jumio, Trulioo, Alloy and Plaid Identity Verification all decline to publish per-verification pricing. We don't fabricate a number. Each dossier explains what the vendor does, why they don't publish, and where to start a procurement conversation.
Our interest is in not making up numbers. A figure that the vendor would disavow on a call is worse than no figure at all.
The six vendors
One dossier per vendor below. Same depth as our published-pricing vendors, minus the price rows, plus an explicit "contact sales" CTA in place of the rate card.
Onfido (Entrust)
- Acquired by Entrust in 2024. Pricing now part of Entrust enterprise contracts.
- onfido.com/pricing 301-redirects to entrust.com.
- Pricing not publicly disclosed by Entrust. Contact Entrust sales.
- Best fit when Entrust is already in the security stack (PKI, certificates, HSM).
Persona
- Pricing not publicly disclosed by Persona. Contact Persona sales.
- Strong identity orchestration: combine multiple IDV signals and route to manual review on rules.
- Public pricing page blocks automated verification (HTTP 403).
Jumio
- Pricing not publicly disclosed by Jumio. Contact Jumio sales.
- jumio.com/pricing returns 404 (no public pricing page exists).
- TCO Calculator on site requires consultation rather than displaying rates.
- Strong document verification + biometric authentication + AML screening bundle.
Trulioo
- Pricing not publicly disclosed by Trulioo. Contact Trulioo sales.
- Particularly strong for KYB (business verification) alongside individual KYC.
- Global data partnerships across 195+ countries.
Alloy
- Pricing not publicly disclosed by Alloy. Contact Alloy sales.
- Decisioning orchestration layer, not a primary IDV vendor.
- Pricing model combines platform fee, per-decision charge and pass-through signal costs.
- Strong in US fintech, particularly challenger banks and lending.
Plaid
- Pricing not publicly disclosed by Plaid. Contact Plaid sales.
- Bundled into Plaid platform pricing, depends on broader Plaid usage.
- Best fit when Plaid is already used for account linking and bank-data access.
- Document + selfie verification with ML-based decisioning.
Operational consequences of vendor opacity
- Procurement cycle 4-6 weeks minimum. Demo, discovery, RFI, commercial conversation, legal review, contract negotiation.
- You cannot benchmark without an NDA. Most quote-only vendors will quote only under NDA. You cannot circulate the number internally for board sign-off without legal review.
- Volume discounts are vertical-specific. Crypto exchange, iGaming and challenger-bank quotes typically differ by 20-40% even for identical verification volumes.
- Multi-year commit is the default. Quote-only vendors typically discount only on 2-3 year commitments. The annual escalator (typically 3-5%) is negotiable but not always surfaced in the headline number.
- Hidden costs often sit in implementation rather than per-check. A vendor that quotes $1.25 per check may charge $25,000 implementation and $50,000 annual platform fee.
How to run a procurement against quote-only vendors
If you must include quote-only vendors in your shortlist, run the procurement in parallel tracks. Track A: the published-pricing vendors (Didit, Veriff, Sumsub, Stripe Identity, Socure, Shufti Pro, iDenfy, Ondato) where you can build a working cost model in an afternoon using our calculator. Track B: the quote-only vendors, where you brief them with the same workload, timeline, and integration scope and ask for a written quote with an expiry date. The headline price from Track A becomes your anchor for Track B negotiation.
Why we will not publish inferred numbers
Cost-comparison sites that publish "estimated $1.50-$3.50 per verification" for quote-only vendors are inferring from old leaked contracts, third-party marketplace pages, or vendor PR. Those numbers age badly and the vendor can disavow them. Our policy is to publish what the vendor publishes, and to point readers to the vendor's contact page for the rest.
