KYC Pricing FAQ

The questions procurement teams ask when scoping a KYC vendor. Each answer cites a vendor pricing page or named regulatory source. No vendor pitch.

What is the cheapest KYC vendor in 2026?+
On a published list-price basis, Didit at $0.33 per Full KYC bundle (ID + passive liveness + face match + device/IP) is the cheapest, with 500 bundles per month free forever and no monthly minimum. Veriff Essential ($0.80) and Socure Launch ($0.80) are the next cheapest. Shufti Pro Essentials ($0.95) is the cheapest that bundles AML screening in the base rate.
What is the typical per-verification cost in 2026?+
The mid-market band sits at $0.80 to $1.35 per verification across the 8 vendors publishing prices. Add-ons (PEP/sanctions, liveness, manual review) lift effective per-check cost by another $0.15 to $0.65 depending on vendor and use case.
Why don't Onfido, Persona and Jumio publish prices?+
Enterprise KYC vendors operate sales-led pricing because their target buyer is a regulated firm signing a multi-year contract bundling KYC, AML, KYB and ongoing monitoring. Public per-check rates would anchor the contract negotiation and surface internal volume discounts that vary by vertical. See /quote-only-vendors for the full operational consequences.
Is Onfido still a vendor or has it been acquired?+
Onfido was acquired by Entrust in 2024 and now operates as Entrust Identity Verification. The onfido.com pricing URL 301-redirects to entrust.com. Pricing is part of broader Entrust enterprise contracts. Existing Onfido customers continue to receive service under the Entrust umbrella.
Does PEP and sanctions screening cost extra?+
It depends on the vendor model. Veriff publishes a $0.64 per-check PEP + Sanctions add-on; ongoing monitoring is $0.09. iDenfy publishes $0.50 per check on Basic ($0.45 Premium, $0.40 Enterprise). Sumsub bundles AML into a Compliance tier ($1.85 base, $299/mo min). Shufti Pro Essentials includes AML in the $0.95 base. Stripe Identity does not screen at all.
How does liveness detection affect cost?+
Veriff, Sumsub, Stripe Identity, Shufti Pro and Didit include liveness in the base per-verification rate. iDenfy charges 3D face liveness as an add-on: $0.25 per check (Basic), $0.20 (Premium), $0.15 (Enterprise). Quote-only vendors typically include liveness in the negotiated rate.
What free tiers exist in 2026?+
Five vendors publish a free tier. Didit gives 500 Full KYC bundles per month, forever, no credit card. Shufti Pro Free Forever gives 10 verifications per month. Stripe Identity gives 50 free verifications, no time limit. Veriff has a 15-day trial covering 50 sessions. Sumsub has a 14-day trial with 50 checks. iDenfy has a 14-day trial with 10 checks. Socure's Launch tier gives $1,000 in free monthly credits (about 1,250 DocV evaluations).
What is the difference between KYC, AML, KYB and CDD?+
KYC (Know Your Customer) is the umbrella process of verifying who a customer is. AML (Anti-Money Laundering) screens that customer against sanctions and politically-exposed-person lists. KYB (Know Your Business) verifies a business entity and its beneficial owners. CDD (Customer Due Diligence) is the FATF-defined regulatory term that combines KYC and AML, with Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) for high-risk customers.
What does a crypto exchange spend on KYC per month?+
A mid-size crypto exchange running 25,000 verifications per month with 100% PEP/sanctions screening and liveness required would spend roughly $8,250 on Didit (after the free tier), $20,000 on Veriff Essential + PEP, $33,750 on Sumsub Compliance, or $36,000 on iDenfy Basic + add-ons. Quote-only vendors typically come in higher; we do not publish a number because we have not verified one.
How does Stripe Identity compare on price?+
Stripe Identity publishes GBP 1.25 per verification on stripe.com/identity (UK page). At June 2026 GBP/USD ~1.26, that approximates $1.57, mid-market. Stripe Identity includes liveness and is pay-as-you-go with no monthly minimum, but it does not include PEP/sanctions screening, so a regulated workload would need a separate AML vendor on top.
What is the cheapest way to do KYC at small volumes?+
Under 500 verifications per month, Didit's free tier covers Full KYC at $0 with no card required. Under 50 verifications per month, Stripe Identity is free (50 lifetime, not monthly). Under 10 per month, Shufti Pro Free Forever applies. Above any of these thresholds, you start paying list rates.
What hidden costs should I budget for beyond per-verification rates?+
Five categories: (1) Implementation engineering: 40-200 hours regardless of vendor. (2) Ongoing tuning of decision rules: 10-30 hours per month. (3) Manual review staffing if you handle escalations in-house. (4) Failed verification re-tries: most vendors charge per attempt, not per passed verification (Sumsub is the explicit exception, billing only successful checks). (5) Geographic coverage: vendors often charge premium rates for low-document-coverage countries.
